(February 24, 2006- Cranbury, NJ, USA) Introducing a new controller, ICU4300, LG Electronics USA-Iris Technology Division announced that effective today, the new unit will support its popular iris recognition platform LG IrisAccess™ 3000 and the recently unveiled LG IrisAccess™ 4000 series.

The new ICU4300 unit is configured to support existing installations of LG IrisAccess™ 3000 and offers advantages for both integrators and end-users demanding system interoperability as the newer LG IrisAccess™ 4000 series is deployed. High-integrity security design that keeps biometric data off the reader is maintained, while the new unit’s size and lower profile makes installation easier and placement more discrete. The new unit incorporates two built-in frame grabbers and four serial ports to double the number of portals that can be operated in verification mode with the iCAM4000 or iCAM4100 device-embedded smartcard variants. A variety of configurations optimize performance and efficiencies of the new unit. While the new dual-purposed ICU4300 replaces the older ICU3000 controller, full field support for the large installed base of LG IrisAccess™ 3000 systems continues.

The new unit designated for deployed LG IrisAccess™ 3000 units, the mainstay of the line for the world leader in deployed iris recognition systems, and the units designed for the Company’s new LG IrisAccess™ 4000 series supports seamless interoperability and integration. Capability refinements make the new unit easier to integrate to standard access control panels than ever before. New features include a Weigand bit-stream auto-detection mechanism to simplify configuration in an existing system, and a wider range of configurability options for inclusion of the new ICU in a new system.

Residing on the ICU4000 chassis means the dual-purposed ICU4300 shares the same 65% installation space savings over ICU3000.

In announcing immediate availability of the new dual-purposed ICU4300 shipping now with the iCAM4000 and iCAM4100 front-end of LG IrisAccess system, the Company also announced availability of a new product for use when a customer desires LG IrisAccess¢a 3000 or 4000 to directly control a portal.
