February 26, 2010, Cranbury, NJ and Seoul Korea, Iris ID formerly a division of LG Electronics known as LG IRIS announced today that it has delivered a complete iris recognition platform to the State of Qatar Ministry of Interior to provide a biometrically enabled Citizens Passport, National ID cards and Resident ID Card. The contract is to utilized Iris ID enterprise products for template generation, backend matching and iris cameras for State of Qatar Ministry of Interior.
State of Qatar is changing its pre-existing workflow process for people entering the country. These systems will be located at each border crossing facilities to monitor the entry and exit of individuals. The State of Qatar will have an extremely fast, accurate and reliable system to check the identity of people entering into the country, calling on iris database located in the central site at Doha, Qatar. Iris ID system can check the identity of individuals in real time.
