(Cranbury, NJ ? May 2006) Concurrent to UE adoption of lead-free and ROHS regulations nears in EU markets, LG Electronics Iris Technology is making configuration changes in its product line-up in both the imager and back-end controller offerings.

The replacement of IrisAccess 3000 System’s ICU3000 with the ICU4300 series, is transitioning to a ROHS-compliant ICU4000 series. The dual-purposed control unit that supports both LG IrisAccess™ 3000 and IrisAccess™ 4000, ICU4300 has smaller footprint than ICU3000, and when used with an integrated access control system can deliver cost savings. Given the variety of configuration options available, an LG spokesperson emphasized that care should be taken to clarify the product environment in which ICU 4300/4000 use is envisioned to ensure proper configuration and testing before units are shipped from LG.

As announced in recent correspondence from the Company to business partners production of LG IrisAccess 3000 has ceased. With many critical components in the popular IrisAccess 3000 product not available RoHS/Pb-free form, IrisAccess 3000 production ended in June. However, LG will continue to support the product with spare parts, service and a limited number of replacement units. The Company is not accepting new orders for LG IrisAccess 3000, but emphasizes a wide variety of configurations and enhanced performance is possible with models in the newer IrisAccess 4000.
