Tampa, Florida. – September 17, 2013– Leading provider of iris biometric technology Iris ID Systems Inc. (Formerly LG Iris) introduced the IrisAccess iCAM D1000 during the Biometric Consortium Conference.
The first “Iris at a Distance” camera of its kind, the multi-modal biometric system – designed for use in airports, border control, immigration, law enforcement and various smart biometric ID card applications including drivers licenses and national ID – can capture, verify and enroll iris and face at a distance of approximately 1 meter with its auto-zoom and auto-focus features.
The IrisAccess iCAM is incredibly flexible, ideal for enrollment and authentication in any industry that can benefit from a biometric boost in access control or identity document creation. An intuitive and easy to use interface with real-time visual feedback allows for even very occasional users of the technology to successfully implement this contactless biometric solution.
As a testament to the long range iris scanner’s versatility, the iCAM D1000 has been selected for airport security measures, providing identity authentication for immigration control at Doha International Airport in Doha, Qatar.
“We are very proud and excited to additionally announce that the iCAM D1000 is an integral part of the passenger biometric immigration control enrollment implementation at Doha International Airport, Doha Qatar.” said Charles Koo, President and CEO, Iris ID Systems Inc. “This is a strategic implementation for Iris ID in the immigration market. The iCAM D1000 is will be installed at all arrival and departure immigration counters at the airport.”
The new iCAM D1000 can easily and seamlessly integrate with already-in-place IrisAccess systems, as the new “Iris at a Distance” camera is completely backwards compatible with the already ubiquitous Iris ID hardware including the widely used iCAM 7000 series. This makes the new iCAM D1000 a formidable upgrade to legacy systems as well as the most cutting edge choice for first-time users of Iris ID technology.
Concluding, Koo added, “Based on our field-proven IrisAccess® systems, the world’s most advanced and deployed iris recognition platform, the new iCAM D1000 is designed to meet the diverse needs for speed, accuracy, and value in today’s demanding biometric identification environment and continue to set the industry standard for iris recognition technology.”
